Like any wine producing area, Switzerland is always searching for a good wine reflecting its terroir, philosophy and the country itself.
Ten years ago this dream came true the production of a truly great Swiss wine was started. The dream belonged to four passionate oenologists – three of them of Swiss origin and a French one – Damien Carruzzo, Nicolas Vivas, Gérald Carrupt and Samuel Panchard
So ELECTUS emerged. A wine that will be featured as a rarity on the big wine lists in the best Restaurants.
ELECTUS origin is the Swiss part of the magnificent Rhone Valley. 2010, is the first vintage of this new great wine and I had the opporutnity to taste it. Now the question is – does this wine have the potential to represent Switzerland?
ELECTUS 2010 is a cuvée of Cornalin, Humagne Rouge, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Diolinoir, Merlot and Cabernet Franc grapes. This wine is irresistibly harmonious. Notes of clove, quality leather, fresh tobacco and juicy bilberries commence the tasting experience. It is opulent, charming and very sensuous on the palate, with a vibrant energy. Aromatic notes of violets, currants, cinnamon, concentrated forest berries and cedar wood emerge. The tannins are very dense with silky elegance. The finale is characterised by freshness and lenght. Electus was bottled in 2010 in four formats (0.75 l, Magnum, Mathuselah and Salmanazar). He has a long lifeahead.
The commitment of all individuals realizing their dream with this wine, should be highly recognized. Only due to the consistent and uncompromising work of thes eidealists, a wine was vinified, which will become the new star in the SwissWine sky.
So far, rather Dôle and lighter PinotNoir, Gamai and a few new varieties have been known beyond the switzerland`s borders. ELECTUS has the potential to end this hibernation of the Swiss wine world. Thanks to producers like Vailais Mundi, Gantenbein from Graubünden and Guido Brivio from Ticino, the term Swisswine will soon be set equal with great wines.
ELECTUS will deliver a brilliant performance with big names like Solaia, Sassicaia, Tignanello.
